Joseph Nwakpe and other individuals are being sought by the Ogun State Police Command on suspicion of stealing and diverting Knorr seasoning products worth N40.6 million.

According to a police source, Pedro Okanlawon, a transport manager with Lap Global Resource, hired Nwakpe and others to move 2,085 cases of Knorr seasoning from Agbara to Onitsha and Port Harcourt.

The source claims that the product-transporting truck was a specially painted Mercedes Benz with the registration and engine numbers 3364N244722 and “Never give up” and “Ifeomachukwu” inscribed on the front view, respectively.

Okanlawon, a Lagos-based transport manager, was said to have made several attempts to reach Nwakpe and others through the phone to find out about their movement.

The victim, however, filed a petition against the fleeing suspects at a police station in Agbara after all attempts to learn their whereabouts were unsuccessful.
Following a police inquiry, the truck’s driver, Danladi Suleiman, of the Ayetoro neighborhood on the Agbara/Badagry Expressway, was detained on September 5, 2023.

Although the arrested suspect has now admitted to the crime, further investigation is still ongoing, according to Omolola Odutola, the state police public relations officer who was contacted and confirmed the occurrence.
