OAU students react to Professor’s sex scandal, threatens to declare lecturer wanted

NEWS DIGEST – Reactions have continually trailed the alleged ‘sextortion’ involving a lecturer in the Accounting Department of Obafemi Awolowo University and an unknown student.

The Action Committee of the Students’ Union in the University had earlier warned that it may be forced to declare the ‘randy’ Professor, Richard Akindele, wanted if he doesn’t show himself.

However, the students have taken to various social media platforms including Facebook and Twitter to express dismay at the incident, even as many students have refused to comment on the development due to the sensitivity of the issue.

A student who identified himself as Ayobami said: “The issue is very depressing and I hope the issue will be investigated hugely to avoid a re-occurrence”.

Another Student who pleaded anonymity said: “This thing happens but it is only good that it is made open and made as a deterrent to other erring lecturers.”

The News Digest observed that the accused Professor has not lectured in the Department for at least five sessions and does not take undergraduates.
It remains to be seen which course exactly the accused lecturer was negotiating with the student.

Another Student in the Department who spoke with The News Digest said he has never heard of the name before in the institution, “I have never heard of Professor Akindele before in the Department.”

Private visits and interaction by The News Digest Correspondent at the church of the Accused lecturer, an Anglican church in Ile-Ife, where the accused pastors, reveals that the accused was reputed to be a “Gentleman to the core and easy going”.

Although the University is yet to react to the issue as the Public Relations officer of the University, Abiodun Olarewaju said “Machineries have been put in place to look into the issue.”

New Digest reported that Professor Akindele had in the Audio demanded five times sex with the student before he would pass her, after she scored 33 in the course yet to be known.
