Nigerians are set to experience another power blackout after the nation’s power grid failed on Sunday.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) grid went offline at approximately 11:51 AM on Sunday, drastically reducing the system’s capacity from 2,407 megawatts to a mere 31MW by noon and eventually reaching zero by 1 PM.

Despite the Federal Government privatizing the sector over eleven years ago, the grid has continued to remain unreliable, leaving consumers in the dark on more than 141 occasions.

Distribution companies are actively notifying customers about the situation, while generation companies express ongoing concerns regarding the safety and durability of their equipment.

Kaduna Electric confirmed that the loss of bulk power supply has plunged Kaduna, Sokoto, Zamfara, and Kebbi states into darkness.
