Senate President Godswill Akpabio reassured President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima on Saturday that the 10th National Assembly would work closely with them to take the country to “harbours of bliss and development.”

“We know that the executive arm is steering our country through turbulent waters,” Sen Akpabio addressed the leadership of the 10th National Assembly at the retreat in Aiwa Ibom.

Drawing an analogy to sailing, Akpabio noted that the measure of a great sailor is not how well they perform in calm waters, but how well they navigate through rough seas.

He added that the successful steering of the country through the nation’s rolling waves and storms would be the hallmark of the President’s administration.

Akpabio conveyed a message to President Tinubu on behalf of the 10th National Assembly, assuring him that he would never walk alone. He emphasized that the National Assembly stands united with the executive arm in their efforts.

Sen Akpabio went on to remark that the executive led by President Tinubu and the National Assembly are meant to offer hope to the nation.

“We believe we, the members of the National Assembly, have come at the right season,” he said.

Akpabio issued a final call to members of the 10th National Assembly to work together for the assembly’s progress, regardless of political membership.

“Let us be united in purpose. It does not matter which political party you used to get to the Red or Green Chamber, right now we are in the Nigerian boat.

“As leaders let us see every problem through the broad windscreen of national interest; not through the tiny side mirror of politics,” he said.
