FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has officially renamed the newly completed Southern Parkway Road in Abuja as Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way in recognition of the President.

The commissioning event was attended by President Bola Tinubu and various dignitaries.

President Tinubu commended Wike’s transformative initiatives in the Federal Capital Territory, describing his vision as revolutionary and inspiring.

He assured Wike of his administration’s support, acknowledging the road’s significance in alleviating traffic congestion, improving mobility, and fostering economic growth and national unity.

Wike conveyed his appreciation to President Tinubu, emphasizing the administration’s backing in finalizing longstanding projects in the FCT.

He characterized the Southern Parkway as a key component outlined in the Abuja Master Plan to offer access and connectivity to the southern development area of the city.

“The Southern Parkway is one of the principal arteries conceived and planned as a freeway to provide access and connectivity to the Southern development flank of the city as provided in the  Abuja Master Plan,” Wike stated.

He also outlined the comprehensive scale of the project, which encompasses a 5.4km stretch of road featuring 12 lanes and four interchanges, along with related underground infrastructure.

Wike highlighted that upon taking office in August 2023, the FCT administration faced numerous unfinished projects.

To commemorate the President’s support and achievements, Wike announced the naming of the road as “Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way.”
