Usman Ododo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) clinched victory in the Kogi State governorship election, declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Professor Johnson Urama, the returning officer and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics) of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, announced Ododo’s triumph with a total of 446,237 votes.

His closest rival, Murtala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), garnered 259,052 votes, while Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured 46,362 votes.

Despite concerns of compromise in some polling units, the results were upheld, though Melaye had raised allegations of tampering in the Ogori/Magongo Local Government Area.

Following his claims, INEC suspended the election in nine wards within the said local government area.
