Use Donations for COVID-19 Judiciously, IFN tells FG

NEWS DIGEST – The Islamic Forum of Nigeria (IFN) has called on the Federal Government (FG) and other relevant authorities to judiciously utilize the donations they have been receiving from corporate organisations, philanthropists, and spirited individuals to combat the Coronavirus pandemic across the country.

The group wants officials who misappropriate the funds to be prosecuted and severely punished.

IFN National Chairman, Brig. Gen. Ahmad Muhammad Daku (rtd), in a statement, said their organisation is not unaware that efforts by both the Federal and State Governments to contain the spread of the deadly virus will cause much hardship and inconvenience to many citizens.

He however, appealed to Nigerians to show understanding, support the government and also make sacrifices in order to fight and eradicate the scourge.

The IFN National Chairman, further called on the FG to fulfill its promise of establishing COVID-19 testing centres, while also providing adequate ventilators and medical supplies in the geo-political zones.

“As we intensify prayer for Allah’s intervention, we should not forget our valued tradition to support those who are vulnerable within the communities by helping them with whatever possible to manage their affairs,” Gen. Daku said.
