NEWS DIGEST- The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Obi, has received the report of the Investigation Panel set up to investigate allegations of improprieties leveled against the suspended Dean of Law, Prof. Cyril Ndifon.

In a brief presentation ceremony in her office, the Vice Chancellor commended the Panel members for their effort and commitment toward achieving a thorough and objective report within a short time. She said the report would be useful to the University and would help it achieve needed closure to the subject matter and consequently move forward.

Prof. Obi assured that the report would be presented to the Ministers of Education and Women Affairs, as well as the Executive Secretary of NUC without modifications. On the scale of mixed comments in the public domain which has trailed the reportage of the subject matter, the Vice Chancellor said the report of the Panel would serve as the mouthpiece of the University to all. She also praised the capacity of the panel members and thanked them for their credibility.

The Chairman of the Panel, Prof. Dorothy Oluwagbemi Jacob, presented the report, stating that the Panel went out of its way to investigate the issues point by point. She said the work was done objectively, with every finding supported by evidence and verification.

The result was not made up or cooked as every fact in the report can be verified. She thanked members of the Panel for their cooperation, time, and commitment towards the success of their mandate, adding that the report was beautiful because of the collaborations of the professionals involved.

It was very unusual to have an external observer for any investigation in the university, but the Vice-Chancellor said that because of the sensitive nature of the issues raised and the personalities involved, Management had to make an exception. The report of the Panel will be presented to relevant authorities without modifications, as this will allow the University to achieve needed closure and move forward.
