The Nigeria Defence Headquarters (DHQ) announces that in the past week, the Nigerian Armed Forces have dealt a major blow to terrorist activities, with 105 terrorists eliminated and 140 apprehended across different operational zones.

Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, made this disclosure on Thursday during a bi-weekly news briefing in Abuja.

In addition to combating terrorism, the troops also made substantial progress in addressing other security challenges. In the South-South region, they arrested 26 individuals involved in oil theft and rescued 86 kidnapped hostages.

Furthermore, a significant cache of weapons comprising 208 assorted firearms and 5,332 rounds of ammunition was seized, including AK47 rifles, assault rifles, locally fabricated guns, Dane guns, and pump-action guns.

In the North East, operations under Operation Hadin Kai resulted in the neutralization of seven terrorists and the arrest of four others. Additionally, a substantial amount of ammunition and equipment, including AK47 rifles and mobile phones, was recovered.

A notable development occurred in Borno, where 224 ISWAP/JAS terrorists and their families voluntarily surrendered to troops in Bama and Konduga areas.

This surrender represents a significant setback for insurgent activities in the region.

In the North Central, operations led by Operations Safe Haven and Whirl Stroke led to the neutralization of 35 insurgents, the arrest of 65 violent extremists, and the rescue of 15 kidnapped hostages.

Similar successes were recorded in Operations Hadarin Daji and Whirl Punch, where 57 insurgents were neutralized, five 5, and 66 kidnapped hostages were rescued.

Meanwhile, in the South-South, Operation Delta Safe made significant strides in combating illegal refining activities, destroying 18 sites, and recovering stolen crude oil and refined products.

Additionally, numerous assets used in these illegal activities, such as boats, storage tanks, and vehicles, were destroyed.

In the South East, Operation UDO KA recorded the neutralization of six insurgents and the arrest of five others, along with the recovery of various arms and ammunition.

Maj. Gen. Buba emphasized that all recovered items, arrested suspects, and rescued hostages have been handed over to the relevant authorities for further action, underscoring the commitment of the Nigerian Armed Forces to maintaining security and stability across the country.
