President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his dedication to tackling the educational challenges plaguing Nigeria, particularly the issue of out-of-school children.

With a staggering 12.4 million children currently not enrolled in schools across the nation, President Tinubu addressed this critical issue during the 6th and 7th combined convocation ceremony of the Federal University, Wukari in Taraba State.

Represented by the Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman, the president articulated his administration’s unwavering commitment to crafting and sustaining an education system poised to propel the nation forward. Strategic measures, he assured, are being actively implemented at all levels to confront the obstacles hindering Nigeria’s education sector.

President Tinubu emphasised the imperative of upholding constitutional provisions ensuring access to education for Nigerian children. This includes the reinstatement of the school feeding programme aimed at boosting school attendance rates. Furthermore, he disclosed the initiation of a student loan scheme, heralding it as a means to level the educational playing field for all students, regardless of their social or economic backgrounds.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Jude Samanni Rabo, the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Wukari, expressed gratitude for the support and financial assistance received from bodies such as TETFund and other federal government initiatives. Such funding, he acknowledged, has been instrumental in propelling the institution towards its current stage of development.
