Chief of Staff to President Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, has emphasised the importance of international collaboration in the country’s fight against terrorism.

During Tuesday’s convocation lecture at the Yaba College of Technology in Lagos, Mr Gbajabiamila said the national security challenges that Nigeria faces tend to involve an “often overlooked international element.”

“Addressing this requires increased collaboration with our neighbours in West Africa and regional and international partners,” he said.

The Chief of Staff pointed out that this sort of collaboration will help to track financial flows, aid exchange of intelligence and ensure that perpetrators of violence are held accountable for their crimes.

He went on to note that the collaboration is an important aspect of the Tinubu administration’s national security plan, with the ultimate goal of making Nigeria a safer and more prosperous place for all Nigerians.

Mr Gbajabiamila explained during his presentation that fixing the country’s security issues was important if the country was to attract both domestic and global investment.

He made clear that the country cannot achieve its goals of sustained national economic growth as long as investment and innovations are concentrated in a selected number of states or regions.

He went on to express concern about the operations of bandits and insurgents in different parts of the country, which have rendered the country inhospitable to profitable ventures.

“We know that capital is cowardly and capital will not go any place that is unfriendly,” he added.
