The Federal Government on Friday commissioned new blocks of classrooms and offices at the University of Ibadan and the Polytechnic of Ibadan.

The construction of the classrooms and offices at both institutions was financed by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), reaffirming Tinubu’s government commitment to enhancing the education sector.

The projects commissioned include the construction of the Department of Architecture building and blocks of offices and classrooms at the Faculty of Technology at the University of Ibadan.

At the Polytechnic, Ibadan, blocks of classrooms and offices for the Faculty of Business and Communication Studies, Faculty of Financial Management Studies, and Faculty of Science were inaugurated.

The president was represented at the ceremony by Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, who emphasised the significance of such infrastructure in improving academic standards and learning experiences in Nigeria’s tertiary institutions.

“I wish to reiterate that education forms an integral part of our administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, hence the Federal Government will continue to provide necessary support towards making our educational institutions globally competitive,” he said.

According to the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Prof Kayode Adebowale, the new buildings would assist the department in getting accreditation for some of its offered programmes.

The TETFUND Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, Babatunde Olajide, who spoke on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the agency, assured that the body would continue to push more infrastructures in Nigerian universities in the ongoing efforts to improve the educational sector in Nigeria.
