NEWS DIGEST – Key stakeholders have convened at Adrian Hall, Immaculate Diamond Hotels, Wuse II, Abuja, for the ongoing Stakeholders’ Workshop on the Accelerated Senior Secondary School Education Program (ASSEP).

Organized by Dr. Mariam Masha, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Regional Developments (OVP) in partnership with North East Development Commission (NEDC), the workshop focused on the implementation of intensive coaching for senior secondary students in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Arts (STEMA) subjects.

The workshop aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the ASSEP initiative, allowing participants to share ideas and discuss the implementation processes.

Attendees include the Project Implementation Team from the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the North East Development Commission (NEDC), Honorable Commissioners from North-East States, focal persons from each North-East State, and project partners such as 1million Teachers, Nigerian Tulip International Colleges, and the National Teachers’ Institute.

Background on ASSEP:

The Accelerated Senior Secondary School Education Program (ASSEP) was launched in Bauchi State on Saturday, May 18, 2024, by His Excellency, the Vice President. ASSEP is designed to provide senior secondary school students with intensive coaching sessions aimed at promoting high achievement in STEMA subjects, enhancing skills development, and increasing enrollment in higher education institutions.

Workshop Objectives:

  1. Holistic Understanding: To ensure all participants have a comprehensive grasp of the ASSEP initiative.
