Senate committee to submit report on Buhari’s request for Emefiele’s tenure extension in 7 days
NEWS DIGEST–The Senate has ordered the Committee on Banking, Insurance and Financial Institutions to examine and report back within a week, President Muhammadu Buhari’s request on the renewal of CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele’s, tenure.
The decision was made during plenary on Tuesday (today).

The President had submitted the letter to the Senate last week, and the letter was read on the floor of the Senate by Senate President Bukola Saraki during plenary the same day.
Taking to its verified Twitter handle @NGRSenate on Tuesday, the Senate declared: “Senate to consider the Request of Mr President C-in-C on the Renewal of Appointment of Godwin I. Emefiele as Governor Central Bank of Nigeria in accordance with Section 8(1) and (2) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act 2007.
“This request is referred to the Committee on Banking, Insurance and Financial Institutions to report back in a week.”
