The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Mr. Adegoke Fayoade, disclosed that seven high-ranking cultists were apprehended in Ikorodu over the past five days. The arrests were confirmed during Fayoade’s engagement with the Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN) at the state’s command headquarters on Thursday. Three were apprehended on Tuesday, with four more captured on Thursday in different parts of Ikorodu.

Fayoade emphasized his commitment to combatting major crimes such as cultism, traffic robbery, and kidnapping. Seeking support from CRAN members, he highlighted the vital role of media practitioners as his “eyes and ears” for obtaining feedback and information. Fayoade also stressed transparency in operations, ensuring no cover-up for officers involved in wrongdoing.

Partnering with the judiciary, Fayoade aims to secure long-term detention for arrested criminals. He urged the public to report any unprofessional conduct by officers and emphasized the importance of Divisional Police Officers making their stations conducive for reporting.

Addressing commercial motorcyclists, Fayoade announced stricter enforcement, considering some as contributing to security challenges in the state. He warned against police involvement in land issues, treating them as civil matters, while vowing to deal with those causing trouble through land disputes.

President of CRAN, Mr. Olalekan Olabulor, pledged the association’s support, ensuring continuous availability of information for members to work with.
