Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro has highlighted the importance of humility in their AFCON journey following the impressive 2-0 victory over the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon on Saturday evening.

The Super Eagles advanced to the quarter-finals of the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), following up on victories against host Cote d’ivoire and Guinea-Bissau.

Ahead of Friday’s quarter-final tie with Angola, the Portuguese noted that the team’s posture of humility has played a significant role in their success and will continue to do so as they progress in the tournament.

Meanwhile, Angola has been making waves at AFCON 2023. They secured a notable 3-0 victory over Namibia on Saturday, demonstrating their potential threat in the tournament.

Peseiro has cautioned his players about the threat posed by the Palancas Negras. He stressed the importance of taking every opponent seriously, regardless of their past performances or reputation.

Speaking at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium after the match, Peseiro addressed the media. He stated, “We will now focus on our next match against Angola, which is having an excellent tournament.”

“On a lighter note,” he added, “We must take this opponent seriously, so we will continue to sleep early and eat pasta (laughs). Jokes aside, all the teams at this stage are capable of winning the tournament.”

As the Super Eagles prepare for their next match against Angola, supporters of both nations eagerly anticipates another exciting AFCON encounter.
