The governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji, has apologized to the state’s athletes for the way the Ekiti State Sports Council staff treated them at the recently finished 2023 National Youths Games in Asaba, Delta State.

The occurrence, according to the governor, has underlined the state government’s commitment to developing sports. He also promised the kids and their instructors financial awards during a speech he gave in Ado Ekiti during a reception for the sportsmen on Wednesday night.

According to Oyebanji, the officials disgraced the athletes, their parents, the people of Ekiti at home and abroad, as well as the entire state.

The athletes, dubbed “Great Ekiti Ambassadors,” brought home a total of seven medals from the competition: two gold, two silver, and three bronze.
