The management of the National Youth Service Corps, has come out to assure the public and prospective members, that they should be patient over the delay in releasing funds by the federal government, in order to mobilise the next batch of corpers for their orientation programme.

Batch A, Stream II, was scheduled to commence two weeks ago, but was announced as postponed, due to the lack of fund, which led to multiple protests by young graduates, and it also led to rumours arising that President Muhammadu Buhari, had cancelled the programmed in order to reduce government costs.

On Saturday June 4th 2016, a statement was issued by the management of NYSC, asking all prospective corps members to be on stand-by to honour their call-up for the orientation course scheduled to last for three weeks.

The statement read, “Based on the assurance received from the federal government regarding release of funds, the 2016 Batch ‘A’ (Stream II) orientation course will commence soon.”

“Prospective corps members were however assured that a new date will be out as soon as the NYSC sorts out necessary logistics.

“Prospective corps members are, therefore, requested to watch out for specific date for commencement of the exercise, which will be announce as soon as all necessary logistics are put in place.

“Management empathises with the affected prospectiev corps members, and appeals for continued patience even as all efforts on the matter are fast yielding results.”
