The federal government has said that the new healthcare service “NigComHealth,” which was introduced on Monday, will improve healthcare professionals’ ability to give high-quality treatment to patients.

The Nigeria Communications Satellite Limited, which is under the purview of the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, created the virtual health platform with the goal of revolutionising the healthcare business.

Nigerians would be able to book medical appointments, acquire medical advice and recommendations, and engage with medical specialists without having to visit the hospital.

Minister Isa Pantami lauded the invention as a significant step forward in the Ministry’s efforts to enhance the standard of living for all Nigerians.

“This will also improve the capacity of our healthcare professionals to deliver quality services, by leveraging technology to reach out to patients in the remote areas with less cost and physical stress,” he said.

Prof Pantami expressed hope that the platform will erase disparities that hinder low-income Nigerians from receiving quality healthcare services in the same way that more affluent Nigerians do.

NigComHealth, according to the Minister, will bridge the gap in healthcare access and promote health equity across the country.

Tukur Lawal, Managing Director of Nigeria Communications Satellite Limited, added that the organisation would continue to bring forth innovations aimed at adding value to residents’ lives through the use of technology.

“The platform will be available even for those who do not have smartphones. And as we roll it out we will give more details on how people can register and how they can subscribe.

“It will be present in all the 774 local governments in Nigeria and it’s going to cost less and reduce medical trips abroad for medical checks,” he said.
