A mob reportedly set a white Toyota Hilux vehicle on fire at the Kara-OPIC bus stop along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Friday Night.

This incident occurred after an accident involving the vehicle resulted in three deaths and two injuries.

The accident happened when the Hilux, allegedly experienced a brake failure, lost control and hit bystanders at the bus stop. The collision instantly killed three adult males and critically injured two others.

The injured individuals were quickly taken to the Lagos Emergency Centre in Ojota for treatment.

Florence Okpe, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, confirmed the details in a statement on Saturday. She mentioned that the families of the deceased claimed two bodies for burial, while the third was taken to the Idera Morgue in Sagamu.

“The crash occurred at about 20:51 hrs around Kara-OPIC bus stop. Six people were involved in the crash, including five males and one female,” Mrs Okpe said.

This accident adds to a series of fatal accidents along the same route during the week. Recently, on Thursday, an accident near the Fidiwo Bridge, close to Ogunmakin, resulted in five deaths and four injuries.

Similarly, on Wednesday, another fatal crash occurred around NASFAT, involving two trucks and a bus. this accident led to five deaths and ten injuries.

Authorities have attributed the cause of these accidents to reckless driving, particularly by one of the truck drivers who made a sudden U-turn without signaling, causing a chain reaction collision.
