Minister of State for Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, has urged Nigerian youths to put aside their political differences and unite to advance the nation.

Addressing a youth gathering in Uyo, Olawande stressed the need to rise above party affiliations for the collective good of the country.

In a statement issued by Maryam Umar Yusuf, Head of the Press and Public Relations Unit of the ministry, Olawande highlighted the purpose of his visit to the state as part of his ongoing engagement with youths nationwide.

Acknowledging Uyo’s political leaning towards the PDP, Olawande emphasised the need to prioritise governance over partisan interests. He urged the youths to embrace skill acquisition as a solution to the prevalent issue of unemployment, referencing his discussions with youths in Cross River State.

Olawande lauded the current administration’s dedication to youth development, citing the President’s commitment to providing opportunities for young Nigerians within his government. He reiterated the importance of youths focusing on the success of their representatives in leadership roles, irrespective of party affiliations.

“The primary duty we hold now is to support this administration,” Olawande stated, underscoring the necessity for youths to seize available opportunities, particularly in skill acquisition, as crucial assets for nation-building.

He urged youths to actively engage in learning various skills, affirming that their proficiency would contribute significantly to Nigeria’s progress.

“I know this is a PDP state, but it is now time for governance and not politics. It is time we put aside party affiliations in order to build Nigeria.

“The fundamental responsibility we have now is to support this government. We, the youths, must be ready to benefit from various opportunities that are available to us, especially in the area of skill acquisition. We must be ready to learn as many skills as possible because it is our most valued asset towards nation-building,” he said.
