Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has presented the 2024 Appropriation Bill to the House of Assembly, emphasizing its responsiveness to the nation’s economic challenges.

The proposed budget prioritizes education, infrastructure, and health, with a total capital expenditure of N222.3 billion and recurrent expenditure of N211.9 billion. 

Makinde urged swift consideration, highlighting his commitment to sustainable development, while the Speaker praised the governor’s transformative efforts under Omituntun 2.0, ensuring an expedited review of the budget proposal.

Makinde, who stated that the budgetary allocation for Education had remained consistent with his administration’s commitment to allocating over percent, a development for which it has continued to receive commendations for machining UNESCO’s standard, said his government’s commitment to building infrastructure that targets the economic expansion of the state would continue in 2024.

The Speaker commended the governor for the steps taken to rebuild the state under Omituntun 2.0, adding that the governor has set out a new order of transformation towards sustainable development in the state. He gave the assurance on behalf of his colleagues that the 2024 budget proposal would be given an accelerated consideration.
