Kogi police confirm kidnap of two Abuja-bound bus passengers

The Nigeria Police has confirmed the kidnap of two Abuja-bound buses and their passengers in Kogi State.

SP William Ovye, the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye confirmed this in a statement made available to journalists on Monday.

The incident happened on Saturday at Inele-Eteke Ogugu new road in Kogi East Senatorial district of the state, at about 7:30.

Sources said two private company buses were heading to Abuja before suspected kidnappers intercepted them and commandeered them to an unknown destination.

Aya, who could not ascertain the actual number of passengers kidnapped during the incident said the Divisional Police Officer, (DPO) Local Vigilantes and Hunters have been scouting the bushes to rescue the kidnapped victims.

He added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Bethrand Onuoha, had deployed an additional Tactical Squad consisting of a Quick Response Unit, Police Mobile Force, Counter-Terrorism Unit, as well as conventional Police personnel to the area to continue with the bush combing and ensure all victims are rescued unhurt.
