NEWS DIGEST– Kano Pillars football club, a Nigeria Premier Football League club fundly called ‘Sai Masu Gida Boys’ (NPFL), has been fined N1 million by the league authorities following a pitch invasion by jubilant fans. 

The incident occurred after Pillars’ captain, Rabiu ‘Pele’ Ali, scored a crucial winning goal against Rivers United at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.

The highly anticipated NPFL week four match witnessed a tightly contested battle, with Ali breaking the deadlock in the second minute of added time during the second half. The ecstatic supporters of Pillars couldn’t contain their joy and stormed the pitch to celebrate, causing a delay in restarting the game.

In response to this breach of conduct, the NPFL has taken swift action by imposing a fine of N1 million on Pillars for violating rule number B13.18. The club has been given a 14-day deadline to settle the penalty and has also been sternly warned about future infractions of NPFL regulations.

Meanwhile, looking forward, the ‘Sai Masu Gida’ team will face Rangers in an away match on MatchDay 5 this weekend. The upcoming fixture presents a chance for Pillars to demonstrate their skills and make a mark in the ongoing NPFL season.
