Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has raised concerns regarding the execution of the State Ramadan Feeding Programme.

During an unannounced inspection at a centre in the Municipal Local Government Area, the governor expressed dissatisfaction with the quality and quantity of food being prepared and distributed to the people.

Suspecting sabotage in the process, he questioned the discrepancy between the food being provided and the standards approved by the government. Holding up a packaged meal in a plastic bag, he exclaimed, “Look at this nonsense, who provided you with the ingredients to cook? Do not let me return and witness a recurrence of this situation. The reports I have received about this exercise have kept me awake.”

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf emphasised the importance of transparency and prudent management of public resources. He stressed that the funds allocated for the initiative are meticulously documented at each centre. Consequently, he directed his Chief of Staff, Shehu Wada Sagagi, to monitor the situation closely and provide daily updates.

According to reports from Daily Trust, there has been public outcry regarding the Ramadan Feeding Programme in the state. Despite a budget of N6 billion allocated for the initiative, many residents have complained about irregularities in the project, which is intended to support the community during the holy month of Ramadan.

Nevertheless, some individuals have questioned the necessity of the programme, suggesting that the allocated funds could have been utilised for more impactful projects.
