Kano gov vows to report economic situation to Tinubu

Following hunger and starvation in Kano State as a result of high prices of essential commodities, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has said he will pay a personal visit to President Bola Tinubu to report the situation in the city.

“I’m going to personally report the devastating hunger and starvation, coupled with rising prices of essential commodities in Kano, with a view for the President to intervene and help bring succour to the people,” he said.

The governor stated this during a meeting with the business community and other stakeholders, at the Government House, Kano, on Monday.

Speaking on his administration’s plans to tackle economic challenges in the state, he added, “One of the measures we are considering is the streamlining of tax collection to allow businesses thrive in Kano, so that instead of every hour collectors are busy disturbing members of the business community, they should pay either monthly.”

He said the rate at which the cost of foodstuff and other daily needs is rising was alarming, hence the urgent need to put heads together to find lasting solutions to the menace.

“The purpose of this gathering is to fine-tune modalities on how to address the menace of high inflation because people are suffering and we need to do something about this.”
