Residents of the state were forewarned by the Federal Fire Service’s Kaduna State Command on Wednesday of potential fire occurrences during the harmattan season.

In a statement, the state’s fire commander, Sadiq Usman, stated that the goal was to protect lives and property as climate-related disasters in Nigeria continued to escalate.

He said that the call was essential since the likelihood of fires and other related situations had greatly increased due to a combination of falling temperatures, strong winds, and greater usage of heating sources during the season.

He emphasized the importance of early warning systems and swift action to prevent humanitarian crises, especially in remote and vulnerable places.

“It is necessary to maintain a state of readiness and enable swift responses during emergencies. The fire service is urging the state’s host communities to actively engage in risk management.

This includes sharing timely information with relevant stakeholders and collaborating with the fire service to raise public awareness and enhance risk mitigation.”

The commander gave the populace reassurance that he was prepared to respond to fire accidents and other catastrophes.
