Residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have carried out a raid on a warehouse belonging tot he National emergency Management Agency of Nigeria (NEMA).

The incident took place on Sunday morning , with locals looting foodstuffs and other items from the facility located in the Phase 3 Region of Karimo, FCT.

In response to the raid, personnel from the Nigeria Police Force in Abuja were dispatched to the area to stop the looting and secure the premises.

Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, confirmed the incident, assuring that order had been restored. “The situation is now under control,” Adeh said.

The raid comes amidst widespread discontent among Nigerians over economic hardships exacerbated by recent government policies.

The removal of fuel subsidies and the subsequent devaluation of the naira under President Bola Tinubu’s administration have led to soaring prices of goods and a spike in inflation rates, prompting grievances among the populace.
