‘If I don’t provide 200, 000 jobs, blame me’ – Osun governorship aspirant tells supporters

NEWS DIGEST – Professor Adeolu Durotoye, an aspirant for the 2018 Osun state governorship election promised his supporters that he will not fail in fulfilling his manifesto programmes.

The professor of International politics, contesting under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP), made numerous promises during the official declaration ceremony at the Party’s secretariat in Osogbo.

Stakeholders, leaders and members of the party were present in their numbers. Those in attendance include; Olasoji Adagunodo, the state chairman of the party; Hon. Sunday Akanfe, the deputy Chairman; Olawumi Otunla, the women leader.

While addressing the people, he promised to create 200,000 jobs for Osun residents in just 12 months and revive the economy of the state by investing in  Agriculture.

“We want Osun to feed the nation.This we can achieve by providing Free railway transportation services for farmers to go and sell agricultural products in places like Lagos. I want us to be bringing money from Lagos and not taking our money there.”

Moreover, Prof. Adeolu made known his plans to improve the education sector and health care system. This is by rewarding diligent students and teachers; and provide free monthly medical check-up for old people.

“We’ll not allow them to spoil the education sector. The APC government has only built schools but didn’t take care of teachers.”

Also, Adeolu revealed his intention to contribute to sports development and talent discovery in the state.

While speaking on how to generate funds for the state, he explained that the 200,000 jobs that will be created will lead to an increase in the number of tax payers in the state.

“I will create an agency for diaspora Affairs. So that all our people outside Nigeria will be able to contribute financially to the development in Osun state.” Prof. Adeolu stated.

However, the aspirant begged to be presented as the party’s candidate in the forthcoming election.

“If PDP will give me the ticket, be rest assured that we’ll take over from APC.” Adeolu said.

The aspirant, who is also an indigene of Osogbo, announced the support of the traditional council of the town towards his emergence.

“I met with the elders and they promised that the over  300,000 registered electorates’ votes from Osogbo will be given to an indigene of the town under any political party.”

The Chairman of the party in the state, Olasoji Adagunodo, in his address, appreciated the efforts of the aspirant and commented that all the aspirants of the same post, merit it all.

“I’m happy for PDP because all the governorship contestants, including Professor Adeolu, are spectacular and they all merit the position. I see a brighter future for the party.” Adagunodo remarked.

Chants and praises by the supporters of the aspirant filled the air afterwards.
