The Jigawa State House of Assembly has passsed N298.14 billion estimate for 2024 fiscal year.

The House, at plenary on Thursday, also passed N109 billion budget for the 27 local government councils of the state.

The development followed the adoption of a report presented by Hamza Adamu, chairman House Committee on Appropriation.

The minority leader of the House, Lawan Muhammad, thereafter, moved a motion for the third reading of reading of the 2024 appropriation bill.

The Speaker, Haruna Aliyu, said the two budgets were passed for quality services in the state and the 27 LGAs from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2024.

The state governor, Umar Namadi, on Nov. 14, presented N298.14 billion budget to the House for approval.

Meanwhile, the House also adopted the state’s auditor general and local government auditor general reports for the 2022 financial year.

The House also considered Standing Rule – 2023, to guide its day to day proceedings.

The lawmakers further confirmed the reappointment of Muhammad Bare, as permanent commissioner II in the Jigawa State Civil Service Commission.

The House adjourned plenary to Jan. 30, 2024.
