A 24-year-old housewife, Hafsat Sirajo, is held by the police in Kano for allegedly stabbing her driver, Nafiu Hafizu, to death.

Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Usaini Gumel, disclosed the arrest of Hafsat and two accomplices on Friday, revealing that she confessed to the act, accusing her husband and guard of aiding in concealing the crime.

The police received a report from Hafizu Salisu, who noted discrepancies in the circumstances of Nafiu Hafizu’s death. Hafsat, veiled, claimed the driver tried to stop her from self-harm, leading to a struggle and multiple stabbings.

The husband, Dayyabu Abdullahi, admitted informing relatives about the death and suggested washing the body. The deceased’s father suspects foul play, citing unpaid loans. The police plan to prosecute after investigations.

“The motionless body was removed from the scene and rushed to Aminu Kano teaching Hospital where a medical doctor certified him dead”, the CP said.

“I had a small cut on my hand and he asked me to go and change my clothes. Coming out from the bathroom I saw him laying down and I grabbed the knife and stabbed him severally,” she said.

“I called his parents in Bauchi to tell them that Nasiru has died. And Baba here suggested that we should wash the dead body”. Dayyabu said
