Each of the 1,215 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members now camped in the state would receive N30,000, according to Borno state government spokesperson Isa Gusau.

Malam Gusau issued a statement on Saturday saying that Governor Babagana Zulum had expressed his willingness to provide palliative care to corps members during his visit to the NYSC orientation camp in Maiduguri.

The cash support coincides with the reopening of the Borno NYSC orientation camp, which was closed 13 years ago owing to Boko Haram activity.

“We want to extend palliatives to members of the National Youth Service Corps.

“Each one of you will receive the sum of N30,000, that amount will be credited to your accounts as soon as your bank details are provided to me.

In addition, the governor declared that he had given the corps members food supplies such as rice, beans, oil, and cattle, according to the statement.

“We have provided you with 100 bags of rice, 10 bags of 100kg beans, 10 gallons of cooking oil and 10 bulls,” Gov. Zulum said.

According to the statement, the governor also urged corps members to observe camp rules and live in harmony with one another.

Furthermore, Governor Zulum encouraged them to participate in activities that would promote peace and togetherness in the country, particularly in Borno, which was affected by insurgency for more than a decade.
