The Yobe State governor, Mai Mala Buni, has given her approval for the hiring of 158 Shehu Sule College of Nursing and Midwifery, Damaturu, community nursing graduates.

This was said in a statement made by Mamman Mohammed, Mr. Buni’s spokesperson, on Saturday in Damaturu.

Two groups of college graduates made up the nurses, according to Mr. Mohammed.

He added that the payment of N10,000 monthly allowances to 393 students of state origin enrolled in the college’s National Diploma and Basic Midwifery programs had also received the governor’s approval.

According to the spokeswoman, 326 new students at the college will shortly begin receiving the allowance, and 67 benefiting students would be entitled to 11 months’ worth of arrears.

“Governor Buni urged the newly employed health personnel to be dedicated to serve the people better.

“He charged them to key into the reform programme of the state government to provide efficient, accessible and affordable medical services to the people.

“The Governor also called on the students to study hard to justify the government’s investment in them,” Mr Mohammed added.
