Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has declared three days of mourning for Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, who died as Governor of Ondo State on Wednesday.

Prior to his passing, Akeredolu served as the South West and Southern Governors Forum Chairman.

Governor Oyebanji announced the three-day state of mourning on Friday, as per a statement released by his Special Advisor on Media, Mr. Yinka Oyebode.

During the three days of mourning, all flags at public buildings in the state will be flown at half mast.

Meanwhile, Oyebanji, who had earlier conveyed his condolences to the government and people of Ondo State, paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Akeredolu at their Ibadan residence on Friday.

Remember that Mr. Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State, had already announced a three-day statewide mourning period in honor of the late Akeredolu.

His statement followed that of Ondo State, which had taken the lead in announcing three days of mourning in Akeredolu’s honor.

In Germany, where he had traveled for prostate cancer treatment, Akeredolu passed away at the age of 67.
