Fuel scarcity poses danger to drug storage in Nigeria – PSN

NEWS DIGEST – The Chairman of Lagos Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Gbolagada Iyiola has said that the fuel scarcity ravaging the country is posing a great danger to drug storage in the country.

Mr Gbolagade in a statement made available to the News Digest noted that the hike in the price of fuel have prevented people from storing drugs at the appropriate temperature.

“Power supply has been very bad in Nigeria and the alternative source of power which is generator faces skyrocketing price of diesel due to petrol scarcity. As such, people tend to reduce expenses by not providing the actual temperature needed by each drug during storage.

“After the production of any drug, there’s a needed temperature for it to avoid degradation. Any alteration in the temperature allocated to it will lead to its degradation”, he said.
