The Federal Inland Revenue Service has unveiled a new motto, “Streamlining Tax Processes, Optimizing Revenue,” in place of the previous slogan, “It Pays To Pay Your Tax.”

This modification is a part of the agency’s continuous reorganization initiatives to enhance services and give taxpayer needs top priority.

The FIRS chairman Sikiru Akinola’s Technical Assistant (Media) revealed this in a statement on Friday.

According to Akinola, Mohammed Gidado, an employee of the agency working out of one of its offices in Bauchi State, submitted the winning entry for the new slogan.

The new tagline has received praise from FIRS chairman Zacch Adedeji, who noted that it is in line with the agency’s mission and strategic direction.

Furthermore, FIRS has formed a Customer Service Optimization Committee in order to improve taxpayer satisfaction and promptly respond to questions. In order to improve service delivery and streamline procedures, this committee will assess current practices, pinpoint areas for development, and put new ideas into action.

In today’s hectic world, the chairman emphasized the value of providing exceptional customer service to guarantee taxpayer satisfaction and compliance. The committee’s emphasis on responsiveness, efficiency, and transparency will be crucial in fostering public confidence in FIRS.

He said, “In today’s rapidly changing environment, maintaining high standards of customer service is essential to ensure taxpayer satisfaction and compliance. This committee will systematically review our current practices, identify areas for improvement, and implement changes that will streamline our processes and enhance overall service delivery.

“The committee will play a pivotal role in building and maintaining public trust in FIRS. By focusing on transparency, efficiency, and responsiveness, we can foster a positive relationship with taxpayers, encouraging voluntary compliance and strengthening the credibility of our institution.

“The committee’s efforts to benchmark against global best practices will ensure that FIRS remains a leader in tax administration both nationally and internationally.”

Speaking earlier, the Chief of Staff to the chairman, Tayo Koleosho, said the need to adjust some initiatives came into being after the strategic reforms carried out by FIRS.

“Rather than bring outsiders to do most of our work, we believe we have capable hands who can do this. So, that was why we asked our members of staff to take part in the slogan challenge which produced the three slogans that best captured our strategic direction.

“We understand that it is important for us to have a unified slogan. Our ‘It pays to pay your taxes’ continues to be true. But as we reform, we must note the past, the now and the future we are going to. That’s why we come forward with a slogan that resonates with the agenda of the chairman, he said”

Three entries from a competition for slogans involving about 950 FIRS employees were chosen. Plaques and cash prizes were awarded to the winner and the runners-up.
