Respite arrived for students at LEA Primary School in Bagusa, Abuja, as FCT Minister Nyesom Wike sanctioned the construction of a modern classroom block for enhanced teaching and learning. The Mandate Secretary of Education for FCTA, Danlami Ihayyo, expressed dismay at the current conditions during a press briefing after inspecting the school.

The school, lacking walls and with only 16 desks for nearly 200 pupils across six classes, including a crèche, presented a challenging environment. Remarkably, only the crèche section had a cement floor, while the rest of the classes were devoid of basic amenities. Responding to the dire situation, the FCT minister promptly ordered an on-the-spot assessment to facilitate immediate intervention.

Following the inspection, the Mandate Secretary announced the minister’s approval for the immediate construction of a four-classroom block and the completion of another three-classroom block initiated by the Bagusa community. The move aims to address the long-standing issue of inadequate infrastructure since the school’s establishment by a previous administration.

During the press briefing, the Mandate Secretary conveyed the minister’s commitment to transforming the school into a conducive learning environment. The intervention aligns with the minister’s directive to ensure that children receive education in a setting conducive to their overall development.
