Funeral ceremonies for Chief Frank Ovie Kokori, the former General Secretary of the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, have been rescheduled.
The Symposium/Lecture and Day of Tributes, which were originally planned to take place on March 4, 2024, at the NAF Conference Centre in Abuja to commence the week-long burial ceremony, have been postponed.

This was stated in a statement that was signed by Felix Ayanruoh Esq., the alternate chairman, on behalf of Mr. Kayode Komolafe, the chairman of the Media Sub-Committee, Ebenezer Adurokiya, the secretary, and Kive Kokori, the late leading unionist. Copies of the statement were provided to journalists on Friday at Ovu, the Kokoris’ country home in Delta State’s Ethiope East Local Government Area.

On December 7, 2023, the day he turned 80, the venerable statesman departed from Mount Horeb Clinic in Warri, where he was undergoing treatment for a kidney-related illness.

As a result, the children and family of the octogenarian made an earlier week-long notice of the funeral arrangements in late January through the Chief Frank Ovie Kokori’s funeral Planning Committee (Media Subcommittee).

The Committee, in its latest statement, however, disclosed that other items on the burial ceremony programme will go as scheduled with the Service of Songs held on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at the deceased’s residence, 20, Odokuma Street, Ovu-Inland, Ethiope East Local Government Area, Delta State.
The body is transported by motorcade from the St. Francis Hospital Mortuary to the man’s home on Friday, March 8, 2024, where it would lie in state until the funeral service at St. James Anglican Church, Oviorie-Ovu, Ethiope East Local Government Area, Delta State.

The burial will occur at the home located at 20 Odokuma Street, Ovu-Inland, Ethiope East Local Government Area, Delta State. The guest reception and entertainment will take place at Ovu Grammar School, Ovu-Inland, Ethiope East Local Government Area, Delta State, right after the burial.

A Thanksgiving/Outing Service is scheduled for Sunday, March 10, 2024 at St. James Anglican Church in Oviorie-Ovu, Ethiope East Local Government Area, Delta State.
