YouTube’s most-streamed music video “Despacito” was deleted by hackers on Tuesday. Other artists’ videos were altered and defaced on the Vevo channel.

BBC reported that the music video which had garnered more than 5 billion views was deleted and replaced with an image depicting the hackers in masks and pointing guns. The original music video was missing in search results on Tuesday.

Other videos’ titles and cover images were defaced but their contents were left the same.

Few moments after that, the music video resurfaced on the video-sharing platform with its billion views still intact.

“After seeing unusual upload activity on a handful of VEVO channels, we worked quickly with our partner to disable access while they investigate the issue”, revealed by a YouTube spokesperson in a statement to Fox News.

The hackers identified themselves as Prosox and Kuroi’sh. Drake, Shakira, Selena Gomez, and Adele are some of the artists whose music videos were tampered with by the hackers. Some videos reportedly include the phrase “Free Palestine” in the videos’ descriptions.

“Hacked @YouTube @shakira @postmalone+ more, @YouTube @SusanWojcicki I’m already in your account too,” a Twitter account appearing to be linked to Kuroi’SH tweeted early Tuesday.

Prosox also tweeted: “@YouTube Its just for fun i just use script ‘youtube-change-title-video’ and i write ‘hacked’ don t judge me i love youtube <3”
