Dalhatu Umar sangari: A Man of Honour, sound character and unquestionable integrity
NEWS DIGEST–Senator (prof) Dalhatu Umar sangari a scientist, politician and seasoned scholar was born in wukari town in present day taraba state he attended wukari east primary school and government secondary school, donga. A man driven by love and passion for education as demonstrated during his primary and secondary school days he proceeded to school of general studies bayero university Kano for his Advanced studies. It was at the prestigious bayero university Kano that he obtained both his Bsc geography and his masters of science (Msc) degree in land development from bayero university Kano. The quest and zeal for further scholarship took professor sangari to the premier university, the university of ibadan, where he obtained a doctor of philosophy degree (PhD) in land resources analysis and planning.
He started his working career in the academia as a graduate assistant and Rose steadily to become a senior lecturer and professor in geography and developmental issues.
Prof sangari served as hod department of geography Nassarawa state university keffi, deputy Dean school of post graduate studies, Bayero university Kano, Dean faculty of natural sciences Nassarawa state university keffi, Dean faculty of Natural sciences ibrahim badamasi babangida university lapai Niger state as well chairman curriculum and academic drafting committee for the institute of maritime studies ibrahim badamasi bangida university. Prof sangari was one time special assistant to the Hon minister of education Prof. M.T liman as well as secretary of the presidential administrative audit panel on ahmadu Bello university on Ahmad Bello university,zaria and also member of the presidential inter ministerial committee on the restructuring of the National sports commission in addition to numerous committees he has served on either as member chairman or secretary.
Prof. Sangari a man of many parts was at different times a consultant scientist to several national and international organizations in Nigeria and abroad.

Senator sangari a man of many firsts in politics and academics it is on record that senator sangari obtained his PhD in record time of 3 years at the age of 31.till date he is the first and only from Taraba south to obtain a phd at that age. He remains to the best of my knowledge the first old pupil of wukari East primary School and that of G.S.S Donga to become a professor and senator.
As a distinguished scholar senator sangari has a Large number of honours and awards to his credit, some of which are:

Senator sangari collected won 4 out of 8 prizes that where won that year It wasn’t a surprise when his principal Mr.Anekunu described him as a student with high mental ability.
3 winner of “graduate teaching assistantship” award as PhD student university of ibadan.
4 1991 laureate (award winner) for PhD thesis
writing, given by the council for the development of economic and social research in Africa (codesria) Dakar Senegal.
5 special Fulbright scholar/participant on education reforms in the United States of america George Washington University , Washington D.C and Cambridge college , Cambridge Massachusetts ,U.S.A.
6 honourary fellow Nigerian environmental society.
It is on record that Prof sangari has helped countless number of persons to gain admission in several Nigerian tertiary institutions including persons he has Never seen, it is also important to say that hundreds if not thousands of persons owes there success in life today to God and Prof sangari’s magnanimity.
A person with deep conviction,ideolgy and ultimate faith in Allah (swt) he believes politics shouldn’t be a do or die affairs as demonstrated by him in 2003 when he was rigged out during the general elections he resisted every temptation to challenge the results in the tribunal when there was massive evidence of electoral irregularities and out right political manipulation and intimidation of voters.
As a Man with unparalleled humility he has always encouraged these writer continue displaying high level of decorum, decency and Respect for everyone in his engagements.
As a thorough party man Prof sangari has Never contemplated leaving the APC as one of it founding fathers , member of the National caucus and it’s board of trustees and it’s undisputed leader in taraba state been the oldest party member from the State.
No doubt , supporting the likes of senator sangari is in consonance with the notion that committed and result oriented persons which the likes of senator sangari represent should be given the unparalleled opportunity to display there God given administrative and academic prowess so as to take there countries to the promised Land.
