The China-Africa Institute  will receive African ambassadors in Beijing on January 25 as part of recent efforts to solidify ties between China and several African states.

According to CAI spokesperson, An Ni, the Chinese Archeological Museum has been selected as the venue for the meet. The museum houses precious relics from 5,000 years of Chinese  civilization and was recently opened last September to the public.

“CAI is currently organising an event at the Chinese Archaeological Museum in Beijing on Jan. 25,” Ni said.

During the event, ambassadors of African countries will meet with Prof. Gao Xiang, President, Minister Level of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), who concurrently serves as the President of the Chinese Academy of History (CAH).

Ni went on to say the purpose of the meeting was to discuss the mutual appreciation of civilizations between China and Africa. “The Chinese Archaeological Museum is the first national-level professional museum in China established by CAH.

“On June 2, 2023, Chinese President, Xi Jinping, toured the Museum and emphasized the important role of archaeology in understanding the long history of Chinese civilisation and appreciating the richness, and profoundness of Chinese culture,’’ the spokesperson said.

Ni added that the primary, enduring contacts between civilisations are between China and African nations, who have a long-standing bond.
