The Chairmen of Kano State’s 44 Local Government Areas have taken legal action against the state government, filing a lawsuit (FHC/ABJ/CS/1733/2023) dated December 29, 2023, before the Federal High Court, Abuja.
The dispute revolves around the government’s plan to construct two flyovers in Tal’udu and Danagundi, funded 70% from the joint account of the local government chairmen.

Seeking an order to halt the use of their funds for the project, the plaintiffs include all 44 Local Government Councils and the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Kano State chapter.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, however, defends the financing method, emphasizing its tradition in supporting substantial projects for the benefit of the state’s over 10 million inhabitants.
