Amid the ongoing Kano emirate tussle, traditional and official flags have been hoisted at the Nassarawa mini palace, currently occupied by the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero.

The flag, a symbol of an emir’s authority and presence, is raised daily at 6am and taken down at 6pm. It remains down when the emir is officially outside the palace or traveling.

According to reports the flag was set up early Wednesday morning with an iron rod, but the flag itself was brought later in the evening and finally raised by 6am on Thursday.

The two embattled emirs, Aminu Ado Bayero and Muhammadu Sanusi II, continue to observe and exercise all traditional rites in their respective palaces as they both lay claim to the Kano Emirate throne.
