APC Speaks on Parallel State Congresses

NEWS DIGEST – The All Progressives Congress (APC) has spoken about parallel congresses holding in some states as the party conduct her state congresses today.
In a chat with the NEWS DIGEST, the National Publicity Secretary of APC, Bolaji Abdullahi labelled parallel congresses held in some states as efforts in futility. He said only congresses recognized by the National Working Committee and monitored by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would be recognized.
Abdullahi said: “We don’t recognize any parallel congress, anyone holding such is doing it at his own peril, the congresses we recognize are those we have sent our representatives to and no other one.”
He further said the party will make attempts to reconcile all warring parties.
“We will make efforts to reconcile all warring parties because anyone who conducts parallel congresses will not have anywhere to send their results to, it is that simple”.
On what the party would do to those who may not obey the directive despite efforts towards the unity of the party, Abdullahi said: “Well, I should say that anyone who insists on parallel congresses despite our efforts unity, appropriate sanctions will be meted out to such a person or erring party members.”
Mr Bolaji insisted the national secretariat of the party would only recognise congresses conducted by endorsed officials and supervised or monitored by officials from Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The ruling party, APC has been thrown into controversies as aggrieved members have hosted parallel congresses with new Chairmen in various states including  Lagos, Kwara, Oyo amongst others.
