Passengers at Murtala Muhammed International Airport and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport are to be provided with complimentary Wi-Fi services.

The latest development was verified on Sunday by Mr. Tunde Moshood, Special Assistant to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development. In keeping with Minister Festus Keyamo’s third agenda item, which is to improve airport infrastructure, he also mentioned that preparations are in motion to expand free Wi-Fi services to additional airports around the nation.

In an interview with Vanguard, Moshood stated, “Both local and international flyers can now enjoy free Wi-Fi in Lagos and Abuja at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport and Murtala Muhammed International Airport (Terminal 1 & Terminal 2). Stay connected, surf the web, and make your journey smoother. Look for the NCC Free Airport Wi-Fi and get connected. Your life does not have to pause while at the airport. Use the Wi-Fi to enjoy all your latest music and download your favorite Netflix programs.”

In line with the Minister’s plan to upgrade infrastructure at all airports and the aviation sector overall, Moshood emphasised that additional airports will soon receive the same level of service.

Prior to this, Minister Keyamo blamed bureaucratic issues between the Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) for the lack of Wi-Fi at airports. He fixed these problems by giving NAMA control over Wi-Fi provisioning

In collaboration with the Ministry of Communication, Keyamo is working to ensure imminent access to complimentary Wi-Fi at airports.

Discussions are also underway with international firms to provide in-flight Wi-Fi, aiming to meet global aviation standards and enhance passenger connectivity during flights.
