AFCON 2023: ‘They’re really solid’ – Amokachi Lauds Super Eagles Defence
Daniel Amokachi, the former Nigeria international, has commended four Super Eagles stars for their pivotal role in shutting down Cameroon during the recent clash at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast
Nigeria defeated Cameroon 2-0 on Saturday night to book their place in the quarterfinal, where they will face Angola on Friday.
Ademola Lookman scored both goals for Jose Peseiro’s side.

Reacting to Nigeria’s victory against the Indomitable Lions, Amokachi noted in Saturday’s commentary on AfroSports AFCON coverage that the defensive pairing of Troost-Ekong, Calvin Bassey, Ola Aina and Semi Ajayi have been really solid at the back for the Super Eagles.
“Eagles defence have been so solid since the start of the competition. The likes of Troost-Ekong, Ola Aina, Celvin Bassey and Semi Ajayi have done so well at the back,” the former Everton forward said.
“They made it difficult for Cameroon to make any good chances. Big credit to these guys because they are really solid.”
