NEWS DIGEST – Two undergraduates: Erinfolami Abdulazeez , 21, and Akorede Ajiga, 19, were on Tuesday arraigned for allegedly stealing IPhone5 and Tecno cell phones as well as N500-cash.

They are facing a three-count charge bothering on stealing before the Oye Ekiti Magistrates’ Court sitting in Oye-Ekiti in Ekiti.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Adeniyi Famodimu told the court that the accused committed the offences on Feb. 15, 2018 at 11 a. m. at Oye-Ekiti, in Oye-Ekiti Magisterial District.

Famodimu said that the accused persons conspired to unlawfully dispossess Olasupo Abdulmalik and Tomiwa Akinyemi of a memory card.

Other items collected from Abdulmalik and Akinyemi are a set of Iphone5 valued at N30,000 and a dual SIM Tecno Kaplus valued at N45,000 as well as N500-cash.

The prosecutor told the court that the accused threatened to kill their victims should they inform anyone of their action.

The prosecutor also told the court that the offences contravened Sections 516,390 (9) and 86 of the Criminal Code, Volume 1 Cap.16 Law of Ekiti State, 2012.

He prayed the court for an adjournment to enable him prepare for the case.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges pressed against them after the court clerk had read the charges to them.

The magistrate, Mrs Franca Olaiya granted a N50,000 bail and two sureties in like sum to the accused persons.

Olaiya ordered that the sureties must be a Level 12 officer in the state public service.

She adjourned the case until March 13 for hearing.
