A day after an attack on the same territory left more than 50 dead, Russia carried out extensive drone strikes and artillery fire on Friday in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region, killing a 10-year-old.

According to military reports from Kiev, Russian forces blasted an apartment building in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, where the infant was later rescued from the wreckage.

Initial reports stated that 16 individuals, including an 11-month-old baby, were hurt.

A video showed heavy destruction on the street in a residential area.

A rocket hit the street, initial reports said.

On Thursday, missiles fired onto a cafe and a store in Kharkiv killed at least 51 civilians, including a six-year-old girl.

The Ukrainian air force reported on Friday morning that the country’s air defence had destroyed 25 of 33 Russian drones.

Once more, the strikes were felt in the southern part of Ukraine, which includes the Odessa region.

A grain storage and many trucks caught fire in the Danube area. No reported casualties exist.

According to the General Staff, Russian artillery shells hit more than 110 Ukrainian towns and villages. Several Russian strikes were also repelled.

In order to reclaim the eastern and southern parts of their country from Russian troops, Ukrainian forces have been waging a counteroffensive for months.

Ukraine has been defending itself against Russia’s war against it for more than 19 months with Western military aid.
