Zamfara Police Arrest Prominent Figures for Banditry, Seek UN Support

The Zamfara State Police Command has announced the arrest of several prominent individuals suspected of involvement in banditry.

State Commissioner of Police Muhammad Dalijan disclosed this while hosting Thomas Parker, head of the counter-terrorism unit at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.

Dalijan revealed that among those arrested are a current member of the State House of Assembly, a district head, and a former local government chairman.

But he did mention the names of the suspects.

Dalijan urged the United Nations to help establish a forensic laboratory and help strengthen the Command in the area of training on investigation.

He explained that the level of crime has reduced in the state due to the efforts of security agencies, in collaboration with Community Protection Guards who have been battling terrorists migrating from Borno to Zamfara State .

The State police boss urged the visiting UNODC counter terrorism unit head to assist Zamfara State in fighting Insecurity.
