The Zamfara House of Assembly on Monday extended the tenure of 14 local government sole administrators in the state by six months.

This decision was made following the presentation of a report by a special committee during a plenary session chaired by Deputy Speaker Adamu Aliyu (PDP-Gummi).

Governor Dauda Lawal had previously submitted a request through the state government’s office for the extension, as mandated by the law governing the tenure of local government interim administrators.

After deliberations by the lawmakers, the Speaker, Bilyaminu Moriki, said that members of the House unanimously approved the request of the governor for extension of the tenure.

Mr Moriki urged the sole administrators to justify the confidence reposed in them and to ensure good governance in their respective local government areas.
